As part of the Environmental Impact Study for the proposed alterations to State Road 35 for FDOT District V, Janus Research determined the Elijah and Elizabeth Davis House to be individually eligible for listing on the National Register of Historic Places. It was also determined that the proposed road widening would have an adverse effect on the property. The proposed mitigation for this adverse effect included the relocation of the house further back on its property, relocation/ replacement of related landscaping and site features, and replacement of a rear non-historic addition that was not in suitable condition to relocate.
Preservation Resource, Inc. was hired to conduct the intial Conditions Assessment, Relocation Plans, design for the replacement addition and to supervise the relocation and construction.
