Information: Phase II of the
Tampa Interstate
Study consists
of relocating up to 29 additional historic buildings out of
the path of the ultimate footprint for widening I-4
through the Ybor City and Tampa Heights historic
neighborhoods. Once relocated, the buildings are deeded to the
City of Tampa and then sold to individuals with the
stipulation that they be rehabilitated according to The
Secretary of the Interior's Standards for Rehabilitation.
The homes are sited at their new locations taking care to
maintain setting, orientation, setbacks and foundation type
and height as feasible. Grants and loans are made available
through the City of Tampa's Interstate Historic Preservation
Trust Fund Loan and
Grant
Programs which were created as part of Phase I of the
project. |

- Make field
inspections/ field measurements
- Prepare
relocation/site/ foundation plans for permitting
- Present relocation
plans to local Barrio Latino Review Commission (local
historic preservation review board)
- Supervise relocation
construction
- Issue Change Orders
and clarifications to Contractors
- Approve Contractor
payment applications
- Assist in HABS
documentation of all historic structures
- Prepare Historic
District map of "before" & "after" relocations
- Participate in
Cultural Resource Committee overseeing project
