The Fort Basinger School is a two-room wood-framed schoolhouse located in unincorporated Highlands County, Florida along US 98, built c. 1910. The school building, vacant now for many years, had been determined through
Janus Research to be potentially eligible for inclusion in the National Register of Historic Places. Relocated to a site roughly one mile away from its existing location to the Pearce-Lockett Estate, the building was secured according to the National Park Service's guidelines for "mothballing" and will remain vacant until such time as a new end use is determined for the building.
