Project
Information: The Fort Basinger School
is a two-room wood-framed schoolhouse located in
unincorporated Highlands County, Florida along US 98, built c.
1910. The school building, vacant now for many years, had been
determined through Janus
Research to be
potentially eligible for inclusion in the National Register of
Historic Places. Relocated to a site roughly one mile away
from its existing location to the Pearce-Lockett Estate,
the building was secured according to the National Park
Service's guidelines for "mothballing" and will remain vacant
until such time as a new end use is determined for the
building. |

Responsibilities:
- Make field
inspections/ field measurements
- Prepare
existing condition floor plans
- Prepare
relocation/site/foundation plans for permitting
- Prepare a
detailed Conditions Assessment Report
- Make
recommendations for the stabilizing, weatherproofing and
securing of the structure for its continued vacant state
- Make
recommendations for the continued maintenance of the
structure prior to rehabilitation and reoccupation of the
building
- Supervise
relocation of building
- Implement
mothballing of structure after relocation
